Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT) identified the need for a local organisation experienced in making and ideas generation to design and develop the board game. Makers Guild were founded in 2017 with the goal of supporting the growth and development of the creative industries in Portsmouth. In 2022 they setup The Imagination Refinery in Gosport High Street as a creative community space that offers tools and knowledge to support all elements of crafting and design.

Makers Guild will work closely with local artists and community volunteers to design, test and produce a board which ‘brings Gosport's heritage to life’. The game will be of a high quality, meaning it should be original, easy to play, long-lasting, and professionally designed and produced.
